SinceVision Debuts First Embedded Vision 3D Profiler with the NPU Powered SRI6000 Series

Machine vision has long faced a structural bottleneck in high speed manufacturing environments. Traditional 3D laser profilers capture raw point clouds and route them over heavy cabling to a central industrial PC. Industrial sensor manufacturer SinceVision is breaking that reliance by introducing its first embedded vision 3D laser profiler portfolio, the SRI6000 Series. Unveiled at the VISION 2026 trade fair in Stuttgart Germany, the flagship SRI6480 model integrates an 8 core CPU and a dedicated Neural Processing Unit to compute 3D metrology directly on the device.

Engineering the Edge

The core technological shift inside the SRI6480 is the consolidation of optical sensing and computational processing within a single 197 by 80 by 50 mm housing. The internal architecture utilizes an intelligent smart camera system and an internal image processing module to bypass the external controller entirely.

By pairing the CPU with a parallel multiply accumulate array inside the NPU, the profiler executes the proprietary SinceVision adaptive Contour Extraction Algorithm natively. The sensor analyzes raw surface features, extracts profile coordinates, and performs measurement evaluations locally. Calibrated coordinate values, step heights, and defect flags are then transmitted directly to factory programmable logic controllers via TCP/IP or Modbus RTU protocols.

"Automated production facilities no longer have room for complex cabling runs and oversized electrical control cabinets," said Kevin Cheng, Europe Sales Director at SinceVision. "The SRI6480 delivers metrology grade 3D point cloud generation directly at the sensor head. Integrators receive fully processed dimension results without dedicating PC processing overhead to raw image reconstruction."

Speed and Optical Versatility

Moving processing to the edge often raises concerns about throughput, but the SRI6480 is engineered specifically for continuous production lines. The sensor achieves profile acquisition speeds ranging from 750 Hz to 10000 Hz. It captures 3200 points per profile along the X axis with a 65 μm contour data interval. For precision automation, the unit maintains a Z axis linearity of plus or minus 0.02 percent of full scale, achieving a step height accuracy of 0.03 mm and a flatness repeatability of 0.04 mm on machined surfaces moving at velocities exceeding 200 mm per second.

To accommodate broad surface variations across discrete manufacturing, SinceVision provides the SRI6480 in optional 405 nm blue light and 650 nm red light laser configurations. The blue laser configuration specifically targets specular reflection on polished metals, machined aluminum, and translucent polymers, making it highly applicable for automotive brake friction pads and precision CNC components. Conversely, the red laser configuration provides stable light return on low reflectivity targets. This enables high speed 3D extrusion contour verification for dark tire compounds, wood based panel defect detection down to 0.6 by 0.6 by 0.4 mm, and automated sole adhesive dispensing path guidance in footwear automation.

The transition toward embedded edge processing signals a maturing machine vision market where hardware footprint and latency are prioritized alongside pure resolution. The SRI6480 is available for global commercial ordering now.
